Dr Jampana is a consultant old age psychiatrist with more than 20 years in psychiatry, including over ten years as a consultant in the NHS. She works with older adults and their families on memory problems and dementia, delirium, and mental illness in later life.
Much of her work is diagnostic: establishing whether memory changes are part of ageing, of a physical illness, or of dementia, and saying so clearly. Where there is a diagnosis, she sets out what it means day to day, what treatment can and cannot offer, and what support is available.
She is an Approved Clinician and a Section 12 approved doctor, and is experienced in mental capacity assessments, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and reports for the Court of Protection.
She takes an unhurried approach, and welcomes family members or carers in the consultation where the patient would like them there.
